Always shine
All of our jewelry has been lovingly crafted by us for you to love. With proper care, it will continue to shine.
How to care for your GIOVE MIO garments
Your jewelry pieces deserve care and maintenance to keep them looking shiny and clean. These care tips can help you:
Cleaning for gold and silver jewelry
- Mix a small amount of mild detergent with warm water, clean the jewelry carefully, you can use a soft bristle brush.
- If your item has natural or laboratory-made diamonds, it is very important to clean them, since due to their composition, their particles naturally attract grease particles, so make sure to use enough soap on the stone. A clean diamond will allow light to enter and exit, producing the sparkles you want to show off.
- Be sure to use a mild soap, especially when applying it to garments containing pearls.
- Rinse the jewelry with clean water, being careful not to do so over the sink, as it may slip from your hands and fall into the drain.
- Let them dry on a clean cloth.
Maintenance
When you notice that your pieces have lost their shine, due to natural deterioration from use, you can take them to a Giove Mio authorized workshop to perform maintenance such as:
- Polish any scratches
- Deep cleaning of the garment
- Renew the rhodium plating on white gold pieces and the gold plating on 925 Silver pieces.
Secure the settings of stones that may become loose due to knocks and contact in your daily life.
Care guides by material
14K YELLOW GOLD
Solid gold is one of the most durable and resistant metals in jewelry. To keep it in perfect condition:
- Avoid contact with chemicals such as perfumes, creams, chlorine, and cleaning products. Apply these products before putting on your jewelry.
- Remove your pieces before showering, swimming in pools or the sea, exercising, or sleeping.
- Store each piece separately in its case or in a soft cloth pouch to prevent scratches.
- Clean your pieces regularly with a soft, dry cloth.
- White gold pieces are rhodium plated, which gives them their shiny silver tone. Over time and with use, this plating naturally wears off — you can take them to an authorized workshop to have it renewed.
- Rose gold pieces should avoid prolonged contact with water and sweat to preserve their color.
925 SILVER
925 sterling silver is a high-quality alloy, but it requires special care to prevent natural tarnishing:
- Avoid contact with water, perfumes, chlorine, sweat, and chemicals.
- Store your pieces in an airtight bag or closed case when not in use — air exposure accelerates tarnishing.
- Clean your silver with a special silver cloth or a soft, dry cloth.
- If you notice the piece has darkened, clean it with a soft cloth dampened in warm water with a few drops of neutral soap, dry it thoroughly, and store it.
- 925 sterling silver pieces with gold plating require the same care as gold — avoid contact with chemicals and water to preserve the plating.
DIAMONDS GROWN IN LABORATORIES
Diamonds, whether natural or lab-grown, have the same physical properties and require the same care:
- Diamonds naturally attract grease particles, so it's important to clean them regularly to maintain their maximum brilliance.
- Clean your diamond with a soft-bristled brush, warm water, and neutral soap. Make sure to thoroughly clean the base of the stone where dirt tends to accumulate.
- Avoid contact with chlorine and harsh chemicals that can damage the setting.
- Although diamond is the hardest mineral, its gold or silver setting can loosen with impacts — periodically check that the stones are securely set.
- Store your diamond pieces separately as they can scratch other jewelry.
PRECIOUS AND SEMI-PRECIOUS STONES
Rubies, sapphires, emeralds, aquamarines, amethysts, topazes, and other colored gemstones require special care depending on their hardness and composition:
- Clean your gemstones with a soft, damp cloth and neutral soap. Avoid hard brushes that can scratch softer stones.
- Avoid exposing your gemstones to sudden changes in temperature, prolonged direct sunlight, and chemicals.
- Emeralds are particularly delicate — avoid ultrasound and steam to clean them.
- Opals and turquoises are very sensitive to moisture and oils — clean them only with a dry cloth.
- Remove your jewelry with gemstones before exercising, cooking, or doing manual activities.
- Store each piece separately to prevent the gemstones from scratching each other.
PEARLS
Pearls are organic and extremely delicate — they are the jewels that require the most care:
- Pearls are very sensitive to acids — avoid contact with perfumes, creams, hairspray, sweat, and cleaning products. Always put them on last.
- Clean them after each use with a soft, damp cloth, without soap.
- Never submerge them in water or clean them with ultrasound or steam.
- Store them separately, wrapped in a soft cloth. Avoid airtight plastic bags as pearls need some moisture to prevent drying out.
- Wear them frequently — natural contact with the skin benefits them and preserves their luster.
